Reusable Pad Kits for Kenyan Girls

For those of you who don’t know, I was in a class called AP Research this year and spent the past school year studying and collecting data about the effect of menstrual hygiene product use on reproductive health for female students in Kenya. Kenya’s poor economic state means that most teenage girls do not always have access to the products they need to deal with their period. This has serious effects on their life: some girls are forced to miss school, but even more make their own products using unsanitary materials. This makes girls very vulnerable to infection and bacterial disease. As my research comes to a close, I am trying to collect money to send over to the schools that I have been working with so they can go to school without a health risk. This money will help them buy reusable pad kits which can last up to 3 years and are made by a local business known as Days for Girls. These kits have seen great success in other areas of Kenya, and I would love to see that spread to Kakamega County and the surrounding area.
